Tirimoana Orchestra 2010
Our Gifted and Talented music programme has begun. We have a student orchestra that practises together with professional conductor Rod McLeay every Tuesday afternoon during school time in our school hall. Mr McLeay is one of Auckland's most experienced conductors of youth orchestras and bands.
We have 34 students who are showing musical promise and commitment and who play a range of different instruments. These include violins, flutes, a harp, a marimba and an ocarina. Several children are also accomplished on piano and keyboard.
Children are learning orchestral skills like sight reading of music and playing together to produce a cohesive performance. This programme will run for Terms 2 and 3 and there will be performances to be announced later.
Mrs Patricia House also assists Mr McLeay to bring this orchestra to performance standard.
